Summer 2019

Please pray for two of our neighbours, Enrico Kabongo (20) and his older sister Lauren Kabongo (24) who are originally from Congo, Africa. They will be leading our small group for the first time in worship, prayer and Bible Study on Ephesians 4:17-5:7 this Friday. It is normal for them to lead our children (5-10) and youth (11-14) all year round and they've also had a couple of experiences leading their peers who are more closer to their age. However, they have asked and taken on our challenge to grow even more in depth and to be more equipped...in their relationship with God and His Church, in Word, deed and prayer and now to lead our team of community leaders in our own neighbourhood.

SIDE NOTE:

We don't really have a name but we save our group chats as

#WeTheChurch and #BeTheChurch alternatively.

UrbanPromise Toronto (UPT) is in the process of onboarding two of our past...children-youth-volunteer-StreetLeader-Program Director...as full-time missionary staff and Enrico is one of them! UPT's Leadership Pathway is a 20 year discipleship journey with a child and their family so God has blessed us to see some more fruit. Please pray for wisdom and growth in maturity as we continue to disciple him and another person in our group who we'll mention at another time.

Thank you MoveIn for providing several resources like Bibles, books, online resources, etc. Our plan is to get our group to join The Prayer Journey with Social Distancing on Saturday, June 13, 2020. The Scarborough location will go through our Taylor-Massey-Oakridge neighbourhood for the very first time. Hopefully, neighbours like Enrico and Lauren can provide some prayer points and context for those who are comfortable enough to still join us.

  • Our kids and youth call him "Puerto Rico" as his StreetLeader camp name.

  • Finally getting baptized in front of his whole Toronto Community Housing neighbourhood last summer.

  • Lauren's first time as a StreetLeader in 2014 with Y.MA.D.

  • Following her younger brother's footsteps in baptism.

If you would like to further support us & our families whom God has called us to love & serve, I invite you to #MultiplyTheImpact by getting your church involved, contact me, pray &/or donate.
