PRAISES

1. MoveIn — It has almost been a year since Chantelle and I as regular Christians prayerfully answered God’s call to become like Jesus and move into the neighbourhood among the the unreached, urban poor of Scarborough.

  • While still mentoring my relationships back in Jane and Finch

2. UrbanPromise Toronto — Our next generation of young neighbours who we’ve been discipling have grown deeper in their relationship, love and knowledge of Jesus Christ and His Gospel to the point of them intentionally and organically making their own disciples in their own Toronto Community Housing neighbourhood.

3. Personal — God has allowed me to be an accessible resource to multiple relationships, organizations and churches both online and offline in relation to our professional and personal experiences of the (recent) pandemic and injustices (over the years).

  • i.e. Food security, responding to critical incidents sent by the government, multiple panels of poverty, racial injustice/reconciliation and the Gospel, pop-up Summer Camps, missions experiences, etc.

REQUESTS

1. Church Planting and Relationships — Past, nearby, local and current churches and church plants have been interesting for our community over the years. We desire to see the Church present and making reproducing disciples in more unreached, urban poor communities like ours.

  • DIFFICULT: Parachuting from outside communities, dying quickly, prosperity gospel, territorial and branding, virtue signalling, performative activism or missions, double-dipping and not collaborating, lack of leadership/trust/clarity/communication, not Kingdom minded, etc.

  • BETTER: Providing small grants, advocating to their congregations with many gifts-in-kind, adopting our community/leaders/current and future missionaries, proactively and reactively serving our communities more than just a one-time event, understanding when helping hurts which then transforms into empowering our community to help themselves and each other with skills and opportunities, etc.

2. Prayer and Financial Support — we are in need of monthly, quarterly, annual (just consistent) supporters to God’s calling on our lives…to become like Jesus and dwell among them, to love God, love our neighbours and make disciples who make more disciples.

3. Chantelle and I — balancing everything that God has gifted us

  • Building a family

  • Her job at City of Toronto is very demanding and stressful

  • Creating a welcoming home for ourselves and others for respite

  • Clarity and confirmation on our individual/combined calling, gifts and service
