"With Great Calling comes

Great Commandment, Commission and Requirement.”

HOOK:

Get started with fun, easy, and engaging questions (10 minutes)

It’s been said that passion fuels priorities and even changes them. Some say there’s always enough time for what you want to do. We give time to our true passions and desires. Our true passions and desires motivate us.

Discuss:

  1. What’s one thing that you always have time for? (Let’s exclude eating and sleeping)

    • Nerd/Expert of something, love in any kind of relationship, identity in life, etc.

IN-TRODUCTION:

UrbanPromise Toronto's Unique Value Statement, Vision & Mission, Core Values.

BOOK (aka LOOK…DOWN)

Find the answers in the Scripture passages (10 minutes).

Read:

  • Matthew 22:36-39; Matthew 28:18-20; Micah 6:8 (Refer to diagram and Hook)

Discuss:

  1. What is the Great…Calling? Commandment? Commission? Requirement?

    • This is what living for eternity looks like…heart transformation vs. behaviour modification

  2. With Great Calling comes Great Commandment, Commission and Requirement. How does our motive fuel our mission with Him as our model?

    • In each step…How did Jesus’ relationship between Him and His disciples develop? What was He expecting from them?…new creation

IN-SPIRATION

(Testimony for 10 minutes)

God’s work in my life & God’s work in the life of the people we serve in our community.

LOOK

(Breakout Rooms or Small Groups)

…OUT — Connect the world of the Bible to our culture (10-15 minutes).

  1. How do you feel when we as Christians (in our home, work, community and culture) disconnect loving God and loving people from making disciples?

  2. Jesus’ desired end product of the disciple-making journey is fruit-bearing. Fruit (in self and others) was always a metaphor for multiplication. How have you seen this type of multiplication in the lives of Christians?

…IN — Go straight to the heart of the matter (10-15 minutes).

  1. How do you feel when we as Christians are distracted or have allowed obstacles in front of us from loving God, loving people and making disciple-makers?

  2. How would growing in dependence on the Word, prayer, and the Holy Spirit help you with loving God, loving people and making disciple-makers? (Refer to Hook)

  3. Who can you invite to help you with loving God, loving people and making disciple-makers?

  4. In which of the steps are you currently on? What do you think is your next step? Who can help you get there and how?

  • This is what we need to learn and pray for when living for eternity…now.

IN-FORMATION

(Needs)

MOVEIN’s Vision, Mission, Distinctives & Core Values.

TOOK (aka LOOK…UP)

Return to Big Group, share discoveries with others and put it into action (5 minutes).

1. Write down some names (of Care Partners for your "hit list" who) God has given you to share with this week. Also, write down when you’ll do this.

2. This week, share with those people what it looks like for you to depend more fully on His Word, prayer, and the Holy Spirit to help you with loving God, loving people and making disciple-makers. Be prepared to share with those God brings unexpectedly across your path.

3. Set aside maybe 10-15 minutes this week to reflect:

  • on the distractions and/or obstacles you’re facing now in moving to the next step in your disciple-making journey.

  • on your progress in depending more fully on the Word, prayer, and the Holy Spirit to live and minister as Jesus did…act justly, love mercy, walk humbly.
